About Walk & Talk Azores Public Art Festival 2012 – Portugal (27 JUL – 12 AUG)

Walk&talk Azores is the international public art festival that annually transforms the Island of São Miguel in a privileged stage for contemporary art. It gathers artists from all over the world to create a route of site-specific installations, that crosses and shares multidisciplinary expressions, conceptualized in it’s relation with space, culture and local communities.

The Festival celebrates the regional culture and heritage, stimulates arts education and encourages a creative industry, valuing the Azores as an unparalleled destination in the contemporary cultural circuits. Promotes interaction and the artistic contamination of wider publics, which usually don’t attend conventional cultural venues, and culminates with the creation of an outdoor museum, inclusive and democratic, where all communicate and to which everyone contributes.

WE’RE WALKING AND TALKING FOR CULTURE!
AND YOU?

Kapotski – Triple Deck

Triple Deck = 3 records + installation = ONE RELEASE!

Kapotski is a live plastic & electric impro trio. Its energy and singularity arise from the magic of playing together, from the dynamics that emerges between the three musicians Jonas Nachtergaele, Ruben Nachtergaele and Kurt Stockman.

Triple Deck is  a release/installation that represents Kapotski in its purest form. For a week Jonas, Ruben and Kurt sojourned in a 19th century villa on the Normandy Beach to experiment with registration, play, improvisationand composition.

The result consists of three mono‐tracks, one by each musician, that were recorded simultaneously during an improvisation session. Every track gets its own vinyl record: one by Jonas, one by Ruben and one by Kurt. In this manner Triple Deck is made up of three synchronized records, which form an auditive reconstruction of a Kapotski performance. The three records are played on three different decks with three separate speakers. The decks are put on auto-repeat.

The three records are released together in a limited edition of 50 copies on the new label Les Albums Claus – Les Ateliers Claus.

Ronse Hard Crew: Plastic Dreams

The recently founded positive action collective ‘Ronse Hard Crew’ presented it’s first action called ‘Plastic Party Dreams’ @ the (urban) arts-festival  Kortrijk Congé – summer 2010 – Buda island – Buda beach!

‘Plastic Party Dreams’ was set up to be a tribute to ‘Plastic Dreams’ a track by Jaydee, a house anthem from 1992. Several teasing mobile Party Pop-Ups eventually brought us to the main stage for a big open air party with lots a plastic beats, grooves, moves, lasers, inflatables, good uplifting vibes and about 100 up to 140 beats per minute !

Big up to Art Centre Buda for the invitation, Helmut Van den Meersschaut (Hel’s Kitchen) for the choreography, Sophie Vahomwegen (Multicolor) for the visuals and Passerelle for the female dancecrew !!!

I was bored
I don’t like mondays
this livens up the day
I was looking through my window and
you must know in front of our house there is a school
and
it was just a lot of fun
it was just like shooting ducks in a pond
I picked the red and the blue jackets
you must know red and blue are my favourite colours

I.B.T.B.O.T.T.F.A.

“It’s Better To Burn Out Than To Fade Away” is a performance by Kurt Stockman and Jonas Nachtergaele.

Campfires are among the world’s oldest gatherings of people. I.B.T.B.O.T.T.F.A. builds on this tradition. Instead of letting old, neglected, almost forgotten paintings fade away in peoples’ atticks, cellars, garages and so on, they get a last, final change to light up a small part of the world, to burn in a social gathering. Art, people, music, drinks and fire …

Poeme electronique ’08

a ‘Poème Èlectronique’ remake (Watch the original on Youtube.)

For Hoelahoep58!, an event which celebrated the 50th anniversary of expo ’58, Ladda started a project with youngsters in ‘Het Meetjesland’, a Flemish region.

Me (for ladda) and Olivier Provost aka opro2000, got inspired by the remaining movie off ‘Poème Èlectronique’, a Gesamtkunstwerk uniting the architecture by Iannis Xenakis and music by Edgard Varèse to Le Corbusier’s colours and images. (Philips pavilion at the World Exhibition in Brussels).

Our goal was to make; a remake off the movie and an installation powered by footage provided on the subject by young people! With our mobile sound and image registration-setup we visited several local events, visited people at home and gathered image and sound.

We presented our remake in a white circle with a rotating beamer in the middle, and quadraphonic sound. (12th October 2008 – Ertvelde.be)

Droom van een zomernacht

‘Het Theaterfestival’ presented two evenings to explore the worlds of Arne Sierens and Peter Seynaeve with image, audio and food. For his ideal summernight Peter invited his friend and fellow artist/filmmaker Nicolas Provost, he served mussels on a bed of a 1.5h youtube-veejaymix. (which we – Peter, Kurt Stockman and me – enjoyed mixing very much 🙂

K.I.S.R.T.S

Kapotski launched K.I.S.R.T.S. 2008, a.k.a. the Kapotski International Shopdrop Record Tracking System: Kapotski distributed 500 vinyl records in music stores worldwide. The records are free of charge for anyone who is lucky enough to find them and features recordings of the ‘Emieltapes’, the improvisation sessions Kapotski held end 2006 in the Vooruit with Isolde Lasoen, Mauro Pawlowski, Jean-Marie Aerts, Fréderic Le Junter, Steven De bruyn & DJ Serhatullah Killa .

Kapotski launched K.I.S.R.T.S. 2008, a.k.a. the Kapotski International Shopdrop Record Tracking System, at ‘the game is up’ festival at the Vooruit. It sounds like a bit of a mouthful, but it’s a simple and fun concept.

Kapotski distributed 500 vinyl records in music stores worldwide.

And that story continues on kisrts.vooruit.be… Each one of these records carries a unique code which allows the owner to log in on the site and tell the world where the records are… If things go well you’ll be able to view the path travelled by the records from march 2008 up untill … .

A big thanks to everyone who helped us with this project!

White headphone story

An absurd audiotale inspired on Eye contact – Backdoor Strategies – Franky D.C and Henk Visch‘s invisible horse. For spottersnoise at S.M.A.K.

[audio:http://www.loosefeet.be/audio/whiteheadphone.mp3]
Beethoven was playing videogames on his computer, when he got a phonecall from a baby. The baby said: Hey beethoven, how’s the dead bird doing dude. The duck, you mean? Said Beethoven. Not the one who’s married with the fish, and lived nextdoor that ugly horse. The one with its tale on its forehead and the seven phonographs in the sky. Ding dong. Yo baby, i have to go, there’s someone at the door. Byby. By! Beethoven opened the door, and there they stood. Three buddha’s and Chris Whitley. They always came by on thirsday. They used to train Sheep. Sheep have wool, and chew a lot, also the black ones. But now they were intwo ping pong . Lets ping pong, they said. They called themselfs the albatros crime club. They even had friends in Mexico doing the same. Playing ping pong. Even in a forest, but the problem was there was no internet in the forest so they stopped playing ping pong in the forest. Because they want to be in peace when they play, Beethoven took his keys to lock his wooden door. Keys can open and lock locks. you know. The key two knowlledge about ping pong. One buddha said, hey beethoven, your roof is on fire. No problem he said. I allready brushed my teeth with my electronic toothbrush, so when my house burns down, i got a fresh breath. So i wont drink coffee, for keeping my fresh breath, but you can iff you want. I do , said chris whitley, and two of the buddha’s. The third buddha only wanted half a cup. Hup holland hup. So Beethoven went to his minibar and put on the coffeemachine. He had that machine for ages, and it started to sound like david sanchez who’s eating duck in a mountan landscape. That woudn’t have been a problem if it wasn’t for the piece of fruit who was in a fight with beethoven. Accidents will happen he thought. But nothing was less true. The roof was still on fire, and in that light , she came. Yes, she. Mary. Mother mary, the holy virgin. wauh. She had that groovy sound of chicago. Sorry guys, she said. I’m a litlle late, because my alarmclock didn’t go off. No worries , the buddha’s said. We allready knew that was one of your deliquent habbits. So we allready started with the mouse. The mouse? Yes, the mouse who ate you rizzla’s last time. Ooh that mouse . hhuhuhuh.

spottersnoise 2006, thanks for listening

Radio Forest

Radio Forest is a radio station located in a forest in Neerpelt, Belgium. The content on Radio Forest is made up of music and sound donated from the people of Neerpelt and surrounding areas, including; LP’s from personal collections, stories, lore, and sound produced during workshops at Musica. Portable radio’s will be available to check out at the Radio Forest cabin so that visitors can have a sonic wander through the forest.

Audio Forest is the result of an international call for forest sounds. Several sound artists submitted their auditive interpretation of a forest which are brought together in a diverse collection of recordings from all over the globe.

We ask people to donate one or more records (LP’s) from their collection. These LP’s will become part of the Radio Forest LP Library and will be used to make new soundscapes to broadcast on Radio Forest.

Radio Forest has hosted a series of workshops for 12-15 year old children. During these day long workshops students learn about digitial audio recording and editing software while in the process of creating a real jingle.

Workshop Leaders: Jonas nachtergaele, Amy Franceschini, Stijn Schiffeleers

“The great muzak” is a whistle, a walk in the street, a happy face when you wake up. Mind eating, cause you’ll have to face it folks, this is a brainwasher. “Moon station” is this so-called though guy, marching at a good pace. A confident attitude.

With “cosmovox” we are catapulted into the atmosphere – surrounded by the deafening roar of rockets, which fade into nothingness, and are enveloped by the silence of space and swallowed into a nebulous mist of weightlessness…floating far and wide. “Yuca” reflect the Saturday night parties at the Brothers’ place. Freaking out at home, playing our own house-style enclosed by strange odors.
